Christians Against Christianity

I just finished Christians Against Christianity: How Right-Wing Evangelicals Are Destroying Our Nation and Our Faith, by Obery M. Hendricks. It's a good book on the topic of right-wing Christianity in the US as a perversion of the faith, albeit kind of a general overview. I grew up in an environment with a lot of the stuff it talks about and I've been reading about this stuff for a while, so most of it's not really new to me. But it's helpful to see it all laid out like that.

The youtube show Some More News also just posted a video covering much the same topic: conservative politics with a christian aesthetic as a typical grift, preying on vulnerable people and undermining whatever value the Christian message still has as a condemnation of wealth and power. It's all very scary stuff.

On the bright side, there's still plenty of Christians out there vocally opposed to this kind of thing, especially outside of the fairly narrow category of white evangelicals. Christian Nationalism does not define Christianity. And wealth is sin.
